Weed in Israel -A measure to legalize cannabis usage was overwhelmingly passed during Israel’s first parliament hearing.
This measure will ensure that those found consuming marijuana will be punished rather than imprisoned and prosecuted.
First-time offenders will face a 1,000 shekel (£209) punishment, second-time offenders will face a 2,000 shekel fine, and third-time offenders will face a “probation” sentence.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel’s public security minister, Gilad Erdan, introduced the measure in the Knesset in Jerusalem and stated that the government wants to lessen the damages caused by narcotics and cease criminalizing those who seldom use the substance.
